Chefs’ Showdown

Join CBFB for a night of fun on October 4th with our “Iron Chef”, “Top Chef”, and “Chopped” style fundraising competition to help benefit CBFB. Corpus Christi’s finest and most innovative chefs will gather together for a similar competition, “The Food Bank Chefs’ Showdown”, featuring Corpus Christi’s finest and most innovative chefs, to accomplish several goals:

  1. Provide our Food Bank clients with new ways of preparing delicious meals from a Food Bank Pantry Box.
  2. Raise money for the Food Bank.
  3. Have some fun!

The Coastal Bend Food Bank provides Pantry Boxes to approximately 80,000 individuals each year. These boxes are distributed at 128 sites in the eleven-county area that we serve. In 2016, over 8 MILLION pounds of food was distributed to those in need.

Pantry Boxes contain food staples such as beans, rice, canned meats, fruit and vegetables, boxed foods, and shelf-stable milk. It’s rare for our clients to be able to create an entire meal from the odd collection of items in the box.

That’s where Coastal Bend chefs come in.

The Coastal Bend Food Bank is challenging Corpus Christi’s finest, most innovative chefs, to create a dish from a prescribed list of ingredients – their Mystery Box. Each chef will submit a recipe toward our fundraising cookbook. For each cookbook sold, a FREE cookbook will be donated to Food Bank clients.

Each chef is invited to showcase his/her dish on October 4, 2017, at the largest tasting event ever held in Corpus Christi – “The Food Bank Chefs’ Showdown”. Chefs will have the opportunity to compete in a LIVE Quick-Fire Challenge in front of hundreds of foodies at the event. Attendees will vote by donations to select the winner and award the top honor of the FIRST “Food Bank Chef of the Year”.

Doors open at 5pm for VIP ticket holders – Open to general admission at 6:00pm.
