About the Coastal Bend Food Bank
The Coastal Bend Food Bank (CBFB) is a nonprofit organization that solicits and distributes food which might otherwise go to waste or be discarded by manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers. Since 1982, CBFB has been fighting hunger in the Coastal Bend by providing food and personal care products to various charity and service agencies.
The CBFB services an 11-county area of South Texas and 150 agencies or pantries operate. The CBFB feeds 7,800 people each week — that’s 28,700 people per month and 78,900 people per year. We reach our vulnerable neighbors by:
- Conducting 25 mobile pantry drops each week
- Holding 7 Kids’ Cafés each week
- Distributing 1,000 backpacks full of food each Friday so kids do not go hungry over the weekend
The Coastal Bend Food Bank reduces hunger in South Texas through food distribution and nutrition education.
