Frequently Asked Questions

I am a first-time volunteer and new to the Coastal Bend Food Bank. How do I sign up?
To sign up, please click on the Volunteer Registration link and enter the required information. Once registered in our system, you will be able to select and sign up for available volunteer time slots.

What age do I have to be to volunteer?

  • Volunteers aged 10-15 are welcome with adult supervision. The accompanying adult must work alongside the teen and register for the same shift.

What happens if I don’t register and show up to volunteer?
Our volunteer shifts have a limited capacity to ensure safety and efficiency. If you show up without registering, we may not be able to accommodate you if the time slot is already full. To check for availability, please call us at 361-887-6291.

Where can I store my belongings when I arrive?
Lockers are available in the Citgo Volunteer Room for storing your belongings. However, we recommend leaving valuables at home or locked in your vehicle, as the Coastal Bend Food Bank is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
